Wondagurl: Production Prodigy

by Bobbi Giel

Ebony Oshunrinde, better known by her stagename Wondagurl, has been called Toronto’s production prodigy — she started producing at age 9, won her first production award at age 15, and co-produced a Jay-Z hit when she was still a junior in high school.

The rest has been history — after moving from her quiet hometown in Ontario to Los Angeles, she has gained respect and recognition in the industry as one of few full-time female producers making rap beats. She has only continued to amass impressive producing credits, working with the likes of Rihanna, Usher, Big Sean, and Travis Scott, including Scott’s Top-40 hit “Antidote“. A beat she sent to Drake over Instagram DM landed her two appearances on his mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late — on the tracks “Used To” and “Company.”

Her goal? “I just want to continue to inspire females, and I want to… get to a level that no other female producer has ever gotten before,” she says, “just to show that it’s possible.”

Check out Wondagurl’s latest tracks on her Soundcloud, and keep up with her on Instagram and Twitter.
