This past weekend America, as well as countries around the world, were on pins and needles awaiting the results of the 2020 American presidential election. Four days after election day, the verdict was finally in: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were the official selections for President and Vice President-elect! While the election results produced a sour taste in the mouths of some, for others it produced the sweetest tasting victory for the future and ever-changing faces of ‘new-America’.
Here at Gender Amplified, we celebrate WOMEN period. Women trailblazing in their respective fields, making strides and changes for future generations, and graciously reminding the opposition “I’m speaking”. Through VP-elect Kamala Harris women, especially black women and women of color, immigrants and their descendants, and other past marginalized sub-groups can look to a leader that looks like them.
And a new precedent, based on old constitutional words, is slowly but surely coming true: “all men (and women) are created equal”. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris has set this in the minds and hearts of posterity forever. Not for what you’ve done, but for who you are and who you represent we celebrate you, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
