Spotlight: Spotify is Highlighting Female Podcasters of Color

by Bobbi Giel

Though traditionally a male-dominated part of the media, podcasts are getting more diverse — both in creators and in listeners.

With this in mind, there is a growing demand for podcasts with content, hosts, and production teams that represent these changing demographics, and Spotify has clearly taken note. Their response? Sound Up Bootcamp — a program aimed at teaching women of color the skills necessary to create, produce, edit, and market their own podcasts. The weeklong event will include panels, activities, workshops, networking mixers, and a pitch competition between participants. Spotify is accepting applications until 11:59 EST on April 10.

Many great women of color have already broken in to the podcast scene on Spotify, Apple, and the Internet — check out one of our favorites below.
